Meet Dr. Possner
Adam B. Possner, MD
Board-Certified Internal Medicine Physician
"The more I practice medicine, the more convinced I become that the key to truly exceptional medical care is not technology, but time. Time to get to know my patients, to collaborate with them, and to advocate on their behalf with other doctors. There is no substitute for time."
Born in Florida but raised mostly in Louisville, Kentucky, Dr. Possner completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Virginia, where he majored in political and social thought. He went on to graduate first in his class from the University of Michigan Medical School in 2006.
From 2006-2010, Dr. Possner completed his internal medicine residency at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland, where he served as a chief resident. Following his residency training, Dr. Possner served as an assistant professor in general internal medicine with Medical Faculty Associates (MFA) at The George Washington University in Washington, D.C., until 2016. While at the MFA, he taught medical students and residents as well as directed two medical student programs and served as faculty advisor for Cuentos, a humanities magazine.
In 2016, Dr. Possner left the insurance-based model of primary care to join a concierge practice in Rockville, Maryland. He then founded North Bethesda Primary Care in 2020.
Dr. Possner is board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He has frequently been listed as a “top-rated doctor” by Washingtonian magazine and Washington Consumers’ Checkbook magazine.
In his spare time, Dr. Possner enjoys traveling and photography. He has published poems and short stories in several medical journals, including the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) and the Annals of Internal Medicine. He is married and has two children.
